Thanks to TPFFA President, Brother Ramagnano, for his leadership and for setting the bar for professional firefighters around the province.

“We have a contract with the city and we are happy to honour that contract. We expect no more, no less. Responding on the front lines during times of emergency is what fire fighters have always done and will continue to do on behalf of the citizens of this great city.”

Well said, Brother.

Thank you to all of our members who attended this morning’s Labour Day parade! Thanks as well to Trevor Mitchell for sharing this little piece of our past with us and our Community! It’s too bad you had to work today but Jeff Cowen made it through just fine under the watchful eye of Mrs. Mitchell and Lucky!!

Following behind driving Tower 4 was Mark Stephenson accompanied by his son. Mark shared with me today that his son rode with him in his first Labour Day parade after being hired so he thought it would be fitting to have his son ride with him in Mark’s final Labour Day before he retires next year.
The Sarnia Professional Firefighters’ Association would like to respectfully disagree with the attached statement by Councillor Mitro posted on the Sarnia Municipal Elections Facebook Page. Councillor Mitro’s statement that the City of Sarnia has ‘employment contracts in place with all of our employee unions’ is inaccurate.

The Collective Agreement between the City of Sarnia and the members of the SPFFA - IAFF Local 492 expired Dec 31, 2016. We are currently engaged in an interest arbitration process in an effort to reach a new agreement.
We had a very special young visitor who dropped us off some treats today! We received a great follow up message from our visitors and we asked if we could share with all of you. Thank you for the treats!!
The end of an era. Congratulations to both Chief Nelson and Deputy Chief Farlow on their retirements. Both seemed to have stoic personalities that made them calming presences in the community. Their personnel seemed to respect their ranking leaders because that respect was commanded not demanded. The new Chief and Deputy Chief have some big shoes to fill. We wish both men long and happy retirements.
